Talon Lug Scraper

Instructions for Use: 

1) Remove the magazine and insure that there is not a round in the chamber! 

2) Remove the bolt carrier and charging handle and set them aside. If you’re up to your waist in poo, you can place them in your arm pit.

3) With the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, deploy the Talon scraping head from the protective storage handle and insert it “groove up” into the upper receiver. Gently rotate it until the tool head drops into the chamber. The yellow witness mark disappears inside the receiver.

4) Press the shaft “off center” within the upper receiver. This creates a slight misalignment of the tool head within the locking lugs and prevents it from exiting the lugs when it is pulled to the rear.

5) Using very light pressure, pull the Talon handle to the rear while rotating it and pressing the shaft off center. This scrapes the eight talons across each of the eight chamber lugs and traps the debris in the recesses inside the talons. 

If you rotate the tool just one full turn, you will have scraped each lug face 8 times! How long does it take to completely scrape each lug face just 1 time with a dental pick? 

When using the tool, don’t pull too hard. It just isn’t necessary, and you can nick your support hand fingers if the tool head pops out unexpectedly. If you need more scraping action, just take another full rotation. 

The fingers of the tool have specially designed (patent pending) debris trapping chambers! They will loosen, trap, and retain debris from the lug area. Later, when you have time, a brush or spray solvent can be used to clear the tool head before its next use. 

The tool head is made of 400 series stainless steel. The choice of material was made to insure that the talons would be brittle. If the tool head gets damaged it is designed to break instead of bending. Because, a bent tool could get hung up in the chamber. But, if one of the talons should break-off, there are still seven more to do the job.
